Find a class that fits
Pick a group role and a play style above to narrow the nine classes. Selecting two filters shows classes that match both. Each card links to the class guide and its talent calculator.
Narrow your choice to two classes
First decide what you want to do when other players are relying on you. Tanking involves setting the pull and responding to enemies; healing involves watching the group’s needs; damage roles still require threat control, interrupts or crowd control where available. Choose the responsibility before choosing a theoretical leaderboard position.
Next consider the activity you will actually repeat. If you enjoy pet management, compare Hunter and Warlock. If approaching encounters from stealth appeals to you, examine Rogue and the relevant Druid toolkit. If changing roles is more important than mastering one narrow routine, look at the hybrid classes and their current talent options.
Consider session length, friends’ roles and your preferred combat distance when narrowing the choice. A class that suits your routine is more useful than a ranking for a different activity.
Check your race and faction
The official matrix includes new combinations such as Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Undead Paladin. Skyborne offers different class choices by faction. Use the race selector before committing to an appearance or racial ability.
Coordinate with friends: the announced rulesets do not permit cross-ruleset grouping, and the factions remain separate. A class choice that fits your preferred group is more useful than one picked in isolation from how you intend to play.
Returning from Classic
Do not assume your old talent layout, racial choice or item ranking transfers unchanged. Forever reworks parts of itemization, abilities and class/race combinations. The class changes guide identifies confirmed recent changes; the patch notes page points to the dated official log.
Explore a talent plan
Once you have one or two candidates, open the talent calculator and load the recommended leveling build for each. Set the level to see which talents you would have at 20, 30 or 40 — the beta is capped at level 20 for now, with 30 announced.
Is there a best class?
Not yet in a way anyone can prove: the beta is capped at level 20 and talents change every patch. Classic experience is still a good guide — Hunters and Warlocks level easily solo, Warriors and Rogues depend more on gear, and Priests, Paladins, Shamans and Druids are always wanted as healers. Choose the play style you enjoy; we will add tested rankings after launch.
