How our game data works

Where the data comes from

The community service wago.tools publishes the client's database tables (DB2) for each game build. WoW Forever beta builds appear there as version 1.60.x. We do not extract game files ourselves.

A pipeline downloads the tables we need, rebuilds the talent trees, renders talent descriptions for every rank and compares each build with the previous one and with Classic Era. Icons come from Blizzard's public icon service. Game data and icons remain © Blizzard Entertainment.

How we check it

Automated tests check every tree: nine classes, three trees each, a 4 × 7 grid without overlaps, row unlocks every 5 points, prerequisites inside the same tree, and 51 talent points from level 10 to 60.

Client data can contain mistakes. We found and handled three talents placed far outside the grid (removed from the live tree), four placed a few units off (snapped to the grid) and one prerequisite drawn in both directions (the upward one is ignored).

Dungeon and zone level ranges are the in-game Group Finder's suggested minimum and maximum levels. Only instances that also appear in the client's dungeon finder list are published, which removes leftover Season of Discovery entries. Recipe colours follow the client's skill-up thresholds: yellow and grey come from the data and green is halfway between, which matches Classic Era for known recipes such as Linen Bandage (30/45/60) and Smelt Copper (25/47/70).

What the data cannot tell you

The client does not contain everything: quest routes, loot tables, drop rates, the skill at which trainers teach recipes, library book locations and server-side changes come from official announcements, independent sources or our own testing, and are labelled accordingly. Library book locations are cross-checked against two independent guides and marked where they disagree.

Beta data can change before and after launch. Every data page shows the build it was generated from. If something looks wrong, tell us.
