The WoW Forever beta runs until October 21

Beta guide
The short answer

There is one leveling build for each of the nine classes, with its point split and the level of its last point. They are theorycraft from the beta talent data and every one passes the talent rules, but none has been tested in the Forever client yet; two were adjusted after Blizzard's October 1 talent changes and wait for review by an experienced player.

Warrior: Arms two-hander leveling (31/20/0)

Leveling 10–60 with a two-handed weapon · 31/20/0 · last point at level 60

Rush Mortal Strike at level 40 through Deep Wounds, Anger Management and two-hand damage, then spend the last 20 points on Fury crit and Enrage.

  • Anger Management and Improved Tactical Mastery keep rage flowing between pulls.
  • Deep Wounds, Impale and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization all scale with the big weapon hits you rely on while questing.
  • Mortal Strike (row 7) is reached at level 40 — the same timing players know from Classic.
  • After 40, Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath add crit and rage for faster kills.

Adjusted for Blizzard's October 1 notes, which removed Boundless Rage: its 3 points went to Blood Craze (now 3/3), Piercing Howl and Booming Voice. Beta build 70291 carries those changes. Not yet reviewed by an experienced player.

Paladin: Retribution leveling (20/0/31)

Leveling 10–60 with a two-handed weapon · 20/0/31 · last point at level 60

Take Seal of Command and Sanctified Judgement early, reach Twist of Light, then use the remaining points on Holy's stat talents for longer questing sessions.

  • Benediction and Conviction make seals and judgements cheaper and hit harder from level 10.
  • Pursuit of Justice speeds up travel between quest hubs.
  • Vengeance and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization boost the melee damage you deal all the way to 60.
  • Divine Strength and Divine Intellect add raw stats that help every build.

Hunter: Beast Mastery leveling (37/14/0)

Solo leveling with a pet · 37/14/0 · last point at level 60

Make the pet tanky and fast-hitting first, pick up Intimidation and Bestial Wrath, then add Marksmanship crit and cheaper shots.

  • Endurance Training adds pet health and armor and Unleashed Fury adds pet damage, so your pet holds aggro and kills faster.
  • Pathfinding makes Aspect of the Cheetah faster for travelling between quest hubs.
  • Frenzy and Bestial Wrath turn the pet into your main damage source, the classic low-downtime way to level a Hunter.
  • Lethal Attacks and Efficiency add crit and mana savings once the Beast Mastery tree is done.

Rogue: Combat leveling (19/32/0)

Dual-wield leveling and dungeons · 19/32/0 · last point at level 60

Build hit and dodge first, then Dual Wield Specialization, Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush; finish in Assassination for Relentless Strikes and Lethality.

  • Precision and Dual Wield Specialization fix the miss chance and off-hand damage that slow early dual-wielding.
  • Lightning Reflexes, Deflection and Riposte make a melee class safer when a pull goes wrong.
  • Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush are strong cooldowns for pulls of two or three mobs.
  • Relentless Strikes and Lethality improve finishers once Combat is complete.

Priest: Shadow leveling (20/0/31)

Solo leveling with little downtime · 20/0/31 · last point at level 60

Start with Spirit Tap for mana regeneration after kills, take Mind Flay and Vampiric Embrace, reach Shadowform, then add Discipline shields and mana talents.

  • Spirit Tap and Improved Shadow Word: Pain keep you killing without long drinking breaks.
  • Mind Flay slows enemies so they rarely reach you.
  • Shadowform at the bottom of the tree is the Shadow capstone players aim for by level 40.
  • Improved Power Word: Shield and Meditation from Discipline add safety and mana after 40.

Shaman: Enhancement leveling (0/37/14)

Two-handed or dual-wield melee leveling · 0/37/14 · last point at level 60

Go down Enhancement for Flurry, Stormstrike and Maelstrom Weapon, then spend the rest on Restoration for cheaper totems and faster self-heals.

  • Thundering Strikes and Flurry are the core melee damage talents.
  • Improved Ghost Wolf helps you move between quests before a mount.
  • Stormstrike and Maelstrom Weapon give Enhancement burst and faster casts.
  • Totemic Focus and Improved Healing Wave keep you topped up between fights.

Mage: Frost leveling (20/0/31)

Safe solo leveling and area pulls · 20/0/31 · last point at level 60

Take the Frostbolt and crit talents first, add Shatter, Cold Snap and Ice Barrier, then use Arcane Concentration and Arcane Meditation for mana.

  • Improved Frostbolt and Ice Shards make your main spell faster and harder hitting.
  • Improved Frost Nova, Shatter and Fingers of Frost reward the kite-and-freeze style that makes Mage leveling safe.
  • Cold Snap and Ice Barrier add emergency buttons for bad pulls.
  • Arcane Concentration and Arcane Meditation cut the time you spend drinking.

Warlock: Affliction leveling (31/20/0)

Damage-over-time solo leveling with a pet · 31/20/0 · last point at level 60

Improve Corruption and your drains first, reach Siphon Life and Wrack, then add a sturdier demon from Demonology.

  • Improved Corruption cuts 2 seconds off Corruption's cast time and adds 10% damage, so you can tag targets quickly.
  • Nightfall gives Corruption and your drains a chance to trigger Shadow Trance for a fast, free follow-up Shadow Bolt.
  • Siphon Life and Shadow Mastery increase damage and self-healing, keeping downtime low.
  • Demonic Embrace, Improved Voidwalker and Fel Vitality make your demon tank longer.

Druid: Feral leveling (0/31/20)

Cat form leveling with bear form for tough pulls · 0/31/20 · last point at level 60

Take cat and bear form damage and speed first, reach Leader of the Pack and Berserk, then add Furor and Naturalist from Restoration.

  • Ferocity and Sharpened Claws make cat and bear abilities cheaper and crit more.
  • Feral Swiftness and Feral Charge help you get to and stay on targets.
  • Leader of the Pack and Berserk are strong for both solo play and dungeon groups.
  • Furor and Natural Shapeshifter make shifting between forms and healing cheaper.

Adjusted for beta build 70245: Blizzard's October 1 notes removed King of the Jungle, so its 2 points went to Blood Frenzy (now 2/2) and Heart of the Wild. Not yet reviewed by an experienced player.

How to use these builds

Each build lists its talents in the order you take them, so the calculator shows the level at which every point arrives. If you unlock the Legacy perk Talented, points come up to five levels earlier; plan it in the Legacy planner. Before copying a build from elsewhere, check what changed in the latest client on the class changes page and in the patch notes.

FAQ

What are the best leveling builds in WoW Forever?

Nobody has leveled to 60 in Forever yet, so no build is proven. These nine apply the leveling logic players know from Classic to the new Forever talent trees, and each one is checked against the talent rules.

Have these builds been tested?

Not in the game yet. They are theorycraft from the beta client data (build 70338). Two of them were adjusted after Blizzard's October 1 talent changes and wait for review by an experienced player.

What happens to a build link after a patch?

Build links remember the client build they were made with. When you open an old link, the calculator converts it to the current build and refunds talents that moved or were removed.
