How to get the Cozy Sleeping Bag
The bag is the reward for a quest chain that crosses five zones, from Westfall and the Barrens to the Hillsbrad Foothills. Wowhead’s guide says you need to be level 14 to start it. The steps below are Reported: each one matches at least two of the guides by Wowhead, Icy Veins and Method, and we give map coordinates only where two of them agree.
Flight paths near the Barrens, Stonetalon Mountains, Loch Modan and the Hillsbrad Foothills save a lot of running. Horde characters have the longer trip, because Westfall and Loch Modan are Alliance territory; Method recommends level 30 or higher for the Horde route.
Step 1: Westfall and the Barrens
Both factions visit the same two places, in opposite order:
| Faction | First stop: pick up “… and that note you found” | Second stop: turn it in, pick up “Stepping Stones” |
|---|---|---|
| Alliance | Burned-Out Remains by the cart wreckage at the Alexston Farmstead, Westfall (about 37, 50) | Burned-Out Remains in the rubble of a burnt tower south of Camp Taurajo, the Barrens (about 46, 74) |
| Horde | Burned-Out Remains in the burnt tower south of Camp Taurajo, the Barrens (about 46, 74) | Burned-Out Remains at the Alexston Farmstead, Westfall (about 37, 50) |
Step 2: Stonetalon Mountains
- Take the path up the mountain north-east of Sun Rock Retreat and follow it to an abandoned camp. The guides give different coordinates for the camp, so follow the path rather than a waypoint.
- Click the Pocket Litter at the camp to turn in “Stepping Stones” and pick up “Scramble”. If you like, light the campfire with the Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder from the previous quest (“Rekindle”).
- Climb the hill north of the camp and jump down to the Mound of Dirt below you on the slope (about 39.6, 49.9). Do not overshoot: if you fall, you have to walk back around. Clicking the mound completes “Scramble” and starts “Wet Job”.
Step 3: Loch Modan
Go to the Stonewrought Dam at the north end of Loch Modan and drop onto the carved dwarf heads on the side facing the Wetlands. Click the Eagle Figurine there to complete “Wet Job” and pick up “Eagle’s Fist”. A missed jump drops you all the way down to the Wetlands.
Step 4: Thoradin’s Wall
Thoradin’s Wall runs along the border between the Hillsbrad Foothills and the Arathi Highlands. On the Hillsbrad side, a broken-down cart is the start of a short jumping route up into the wall. Inside, cross the room to the Messenger Bag hanging on the wall: turn in “Eagle’s Fist” and pick up “This Must Be The Place”. Turn that in at the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel just below the bag, and the Cozy Sleeping Bag is yours.
What the sleeping bag does
From the game client (build 70338):
| Cozy Sleeping Bag | |
|---|---|
| Item | Rare quality, item level 40, binds when picked up, unique |
| Use | “Unfurl a sleeping bag. Resting inside for at least one minute will provide a bonus to experience earned, stacking up to 3 times.” |
| Cast time | 15 seconds |
| Cooldown | 1 hour |
| Bag lasts | 20 minutes |
| Buff | Well-Rested: experience gains +1% per stack, up to 3 stacks |
| Buff duration | 2 hours |
Wowhead and Method add that the bag counts as a rested area; Method notes that you can log out in it to keep earning rested experience. Icy Veins reports that party members can use your bag too. Wowhead says the buff lasts one hour, but the client gives Well-Rested a duration of two hours, as Icy Veins and Method do.
Rewards along the way
Most quests in the chain also give Student Fodder, a food item. In the game client its effect is called Trail Snack: an instant heal, a heal every 2 seconds for 12 seconds, and some mana, rage or energy.
Icy Veins lists the other rewards. All of these items are in the game client, but which quest gives which item is server data, so treat this list as Reported:
- “… and that note you found”: a Swiftness Potion and a Lesser Troll’s Blood Elixir
- “Stepping Stones”: the Old Toolbox, a 12-slot bag
- “Scramble”: a choice of Silver Star, Moonsight Rifle or Precision Bow
- “Wet Job”: a Hickory Pipe and a Rumsey Rum Light
Sleeping bag or campsite?
The sleeping bag is a personal item from a quest. Forever’s camping system is something else: a Cook’s campfire that up to three players fill with profession objects, each with its own one-hour buff. You can use both. Plan where you level with the zones by level, and add the quest chain to your launch checklist if you want the bag early.
